Breaking News: The Beerwah RSL and Citizens Memorial Club (BR&CM) is being kicked out by the owner of the premises it trades from.
The premises is owned by the Beerwah RSL Sub Branch who have a contractual arrangement with and initially set up the BR&CM.
It is the BR&CM who run the day to day operation, hold the liquor license, own the gaming machines and have a membership of about 3000 with the RSL Sub Branch only having about 150 members.
Talking on behalf of BR&CM, Frank Balzary from Jacaranda Advisory, said they didn't know why an eviction noticed had been served on them.
"We don't want to go and we're working on sorting this out," Mr Balzary said.
Further investigation has revealed a dispute between the two entities has boiled over. This relates to a technicality on how six members are appointed to the BR&CM board.
In the past the six members in question who make up a portion of the overall board were appointed by the RSL Sub branch. According to BR&CM, legislation has changed meaning all members of the board now have to be appointed by its 3000 members at an AGM.
The RSL Sub branch has dug in its heals, as a result they could end up with an empty building and put 30 people out of work.
BR&CM are looking at all options including building a new premises or relocating the main club to the Glass House Bowls club which they own.
