Call Action After Fatal Crash

An 89-year-old man has died in a car accident on what locals believe is a notoriously dangerous stretch of road.

Initial investigations uncovered that on the afternoon of March four, the now deceased driver was entering the Woombye - Palmwoods road, between Colsak Close and Nicklin Road when his vehicle collided with another heading north. He was then taken to Nambour hospital where he later died on March 6.

State Member for Glasshouse Andrew Powell, hopes that this will be the final straw and that main roads will now take action to make the road safer.

"The tragic thing is this may be cause for something more to happen now," Mr Powell said.

He says that the 80km speed limit and drive ways are contributing factors that make the road so dangerous.

The 39-year-old male driver of the other vehicle did not suffer any major injuries.

The Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash Unit is continuing investigations.
