Fraud Charges Following Alleged Theft Of Identity, Redcliffe

Police have arrested and charged a 56-year-old Redcliffe man following investigations into an alleged case of stolen identity of a deceased man in Redcliffe.

It is alleged that the man had opened bank accounts in the dead man’s name and claimed flood relief and a disability pension in that name.

It is also alleged that he broke into the dead man’s dwelling to obtain his details.

The man has been charged with two counts of fraud and one count each of break and enter, attempted fraud, burglary, forgery, utter forged documents, stealing, failure to dispose and possessing restricted drugs.

He is due to appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.
