If you know someone who went above and beyond the call of duty to help out in the January floods, nominate them as your hero.
Mayor Allan Sutherland has urged Moreton Bay region residents to put forward their choices for the Queensland Disaster Heroes program before nominations close on Friday, April 1.
“There’s not much time left to nominate someone, but if you know of an individual who showed outstanding community initiative, bravery, courage, strength and resilience during the floods, then please nominate them for recognition as a Queensland hero,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“There won’t be too many of us who don’t have a story to tell about January 11, when parts of our region were soaked with 430mm of rain in less than 10 hours.
“Maybe you know an SES volunteer or a neighbour who, despite their own difficult circumstances, made it their priority to help others facing adversity.
“This is your chance to make sure they receive the recognition they deserve for their efforts.”
Nominees will be invited to a Queensland Week event, between June 4 and 13, to be publicly recognised and presented with a commemorative medal.
