Wyatt Roy, Federal Member for Longman, yesterday explained his new hair style to Parliament.
Mr Roy was the only politician in Federal Parliament who participated in Shave for a Cure, sporting a short new look for the week of Parliament in Canberra.
In his speech to Parliament Mr Roy said, “on Saturday the 12th of March I lent my hair to the scissors of local singer and Leukaemia Foundation Ambassador Sinead Burgess at Morayfield Shopping Centre.”
Mr Roy spoke about local Minimbah State School student Kane Fenech whom he sponsored to Shave for a Cure.
“Kane’s courage in standing up for this worthy cause is something to be praised,” Mr Roy said.
Mr Roy congratulated branch president Jane McMillan for her work with the Leukaemia Foundation in coordinating this year’s events.
“It is hoped that the valiant efforts of participants will have raised as much as $45 000,” said Mr Roy in his speech.
