Julia Gillard's Gamble Backfires

The gamble taken by Julia Gillard to do a deal with the independents, so Labor could form government may be about to backfire.

The deal done to sign up, Independent Tasmanian MP Andrew Wilkie, demands the government makes major changes to poker machine regulations.

These proposed regulations have been strongly criticized by the club industry and parts of the community.

Liberal member of the joint select committee on gambling reform Steven Ciobo said: "People don't want to be forced to hand over their personal details and sign up for a license to punt, however they are stuck with this bad policy because Julia Gillard sold her soul to Wilkie to win power."
