Witta (North Of Maleny) - House Fire

The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) responded after fire broke out in a two-storey timber home off Maleny Kenilworth Road, Witta around 12.15pm.

On arrival, the home was well-involved in fire. It is understood the male owner of the property was working inside a shed attached to the home when smoke alarms alerted him to the blaze.

He was able to escape uninjured. Firefighters were also able to successfully disconnect and remove gas cylinders which were located at the side of the home. The home was destroyed and the shed sustained only minor damage.

Urban and rural fire crews remain on scene dampening down and monitoring hot spots. Fire investigators will attend the scene tomorrow. The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) attended for standby purposes only.
