The Grates Are Still Great


The Grates are an energetic two-piece band from Brisbane. After losing their band mate Alana Skyring to the culinary career, Patience Hodgson and John Patterson flew to Brooklyn for some New York change.
-The Grates will be performing at Splendour In The Grass 2011.

In the New York atmosphere, Patience and John began to develop new ‘rituals’ in regards to writing music. With this in mind, they decided to call their long awaited album “Secret Rituals.”

Without their drummer, and a new liking for bass, The Grates set out to get a new drummer and a bass player. With all these new changes in place, it’s no surprise that their new material sounds different to their previous work. However, it still sounds like something by The Grates.
