Kilcoy Races a Buzz with the Sounds of Life

The first Kilcoy race of the year was met with roars of excitement as the horses pounded over the finish line. Recovered from the impact of recent flooding, the Kilcoy Race Club was full of eager-punters and family groups.

Located just off the D'Arguilar Highway on the Western side of Kilcoy, the Kilcoy Race Club facilities displayed excellent condition in time for the June 18 race meet.

A number of people remarked how beautiful and enjoyable the day was for the young and old.

Not to be left out, a team from 101.5fm set up their marquee near the sideline, pulled up their chairs, shared plates of food and watched the action gallop by.

The ladies millinery was created and supplied by the station milliner, Megan Beverley. Hardly a ladies head at the races was without a hat or fascinator.

Team member Darryn Robinson supplied the race knowledge, while Tracey Robinson, Bev Robinson, Robert Cameron and Don Matthews had a little punt with each other.

The atmosphere of the day was very warm, with most turning up mid-morning and staying until late in the afternoon. The dress code demanded warm cloths, as the cold breeze cut right through to the bone.

In between all the action Jockeys paraded their vibrant colours and horses for the crowds pleasure.

At the end of the day the 101.5fm team left the Kilcoy Race Club pleased, not any richer but very happy with a day well spent in the company of wonderful people.
