Residents and business people are being urged to get behind the proposed establishment of a new Woodford based State Emergency Service.
Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Division 12 councillor, Adrian Raedel , said a public forum had been organised for June 28 to gauge community interest in building a local and committed SES team.
“The recent flood and torrential rain events across the Moreton Bay region have highlighted the challenges for emergency services,” Cr Raedel said.
“A volunteer SES team based at Woodford could help deliver a local 24/7 emergency capability and provide backup for existing agencies like police, ambulance and the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service.
“With the right training and equipment, a local SES outfit would have a key role to play in Woodford’s emergency response capacity.”
Cr Raedel said the public meeting would be held at the Woodford community Hall on Tuesday, June 28, from 7pm.
“To deliver an effective emergency response, a Woodford SES will need local support and the commitment of a dedicated team of volunteers,” Cr Raedel said.
