2011 Longman Awards

Updated 21/06/2011 - Video: Wyatt speaks about the 2011 Longman Community Awards
Wyatt Roy, Federal Member for Longman held the 2011 Longman Awards on Friday night, recognising volunteer work and achievements in the Longman community.

Over 320 people attended the evening to celebrate the achievements of the Longman community.

Mr Roy said it was an honour to be able to recognise the quiet achievers in the community – “those who quietly go about doing their work, driven only by the desire to help others.”

“We had so many nominations and all the finalists were worthy – it was very difficult to choose just one winner from each category.

“In the end two winners were chosen from the Volunteering Achievement category, because the standard of nominees was so high,” Mr Roy said.

The 2011 Longman Award Winners are:
· Senior’s Achievement – Maureen Hall
· Sporting Achievement – Liam Wilson
· Environmental Achievement – Colleen Ogilvie
