ENERGEX restoring power to South East Queensland

ENERGEX crews are currently working to restore power to around 3, 395 homes and businesses in South East Queensland following a series of storms that passed through the region this morning.

In total the storms caused power interruptions to more than 16,000 customers.

ENERGEX’s rapid response crews are working in adverse conditions to reconnect power to affected customers as quickly and safely as possible.

The main cause of power interruptions was lightning strikes, with more than 29,000 strikes recorded in South East Queensland since 6am.

Today’s storms are a timely reminder for people to prepare now for the storm season by clearing loose objects from their yard and trimming overhanging tree branches.

Residents are also encouraged to prepare a storm kit including a torch with spare batteries and battery operated radio in case power interruptions occur.

ENERGEX is encouraging anyone who sees fallen powerlines to keep themselves and others well away and phone our priority number of 13 19 62.

ENERGEX thanks customers for their patience while repairs are underway and if they experience a power interruption to contact 13 62 62.
