SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND

For people in parts of the
BRISBANE CITY,
GYMPIE,
MORETON BAY and
SUNSHINE COAST Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near northern Bribie Island and the area north of Gympie. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Tin Can Bay by 6:25 pm and Rainbow Beach and Inskip Point by 6:55 pm.
Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.
Golf ball size hail reported at Albany Creek at 5:00pm.
4cm hail was reported at Marburg at 4:40pm.
2cm hail was reported at Oxley at 4:30pm.
1-2cm hail was reported at Mt Alford at 3:00pm.
A 79km/hr wind gust was recorded at Warwick at 2:25pm.
Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. 
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:55 pm.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Southeast Coast and parts of the Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Emergency Management Queensland would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
