Local Residents to Celebrate Latest Major Upgrade

A ‘FUTURISTIC’ sewage treatment plant is about to be unveiled at South Caboolture.

Residents will soon get the chance to see exactly what Unitywater engineers have been up to once the upgrade of the South Caboolture Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) launches on November 23.

Unitywater Chief Operating Officer George Theo is proud to announce the $48 million upgrade.

It’s the latest addition to a growing list of achievements aimed at future proofing the region’s wastewater systems.

“The recent works allow us to improve the quality of the treated sewage that is released to waterways, ensuring Unitywater continues to meet and where possible exceed stringent environmental standards,” Mr Theo said.

He said the upgrade would improve the efficiency and reliability of operations, resulting in significant cost savings.

“Cost considerations have been paramount at all stages of project delivery, with the project management team electing to build on existing facilities and infrastructure, minimising the need to construct costly new tanks,” he said.

The South Caboolture STP upgrade follows the successful upgrade of the Burpengary East STP earlier this year.

The upgraded plant, at Weier Road, services the Caboolture and Morayfield areas and will deliver a range of benefits to the community and the environment through improved equipment, technology and procedures.

Local residents are invited to take part in a free tour of the treatment plant, followed by light refreshments, on Wednesday 23 November.

Site tours run for an hour and provide residents with a clear understanding of how Unitywater manages and treats the community’s sewage, wastewater and trade waste. They will be held at the following times:

· 11:30am – 12:30pm
· 1:00pm – 2:00pm
· 2:30pm – 3:30pm

South Caboolture STP tour spaces are limited and bookings are essential.
