20 Youths in Altercation with Police at the Morayfield Shopping Centre


About 8pm police responded to a report of a male youth causing a disturbance at Morayfield Shopping Centre.

The disturbance continued and the 16-year-old youth allegedly became involved in a physical altercation with a male constable as he attempted to take him into custody in relation to a public nuisance matter. 

During the altercation the officer was knocked to the ground and was assisted by security personnel and members of the public. 

The boy has been charged with one count each of serious assault police and contravene a move on direction as well as two counts of public nuisance. 

He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act.
