Leaders Ready To Weather Storms With Disaster Action Plan

101.5fm Craig Hewlett
COMMUNITY leaders have banded together to prepare a disaster response plan after the recent flooding in the Moreton Bay region.

The Moreton Central Chamber of Commerce, Caboolture Chamber of Commerce, North Lakes Chamber of Commerce, Bribie Island Chamber of Commerce and Woodford Community Hall have teamed up to help the community and Moreton Bay Regional Council in times of emergency.

The group, with the assistance of commercial operator Lynn Cook, has put together a Community Emergency Management Initiative that will come into action during a disaster.

Radio 101.5FM station manager Craig Hewlett, who helped organise the group, said it had a clear purpose.

‘‘It will be to work with council and emergency services to provide time and relevant information from people on the ground in affected areas,’’ Mr Hewlett said. Initial discussions to form the group began after the January 11 floods, with a view to be ready as soon as possible for the rest of the storm season.  Quest News
