Police Station Bomb Threat - Evacuated

BURPENGARY police station and residents of a nearby street have been evacuated because of a suspected bomb scare.
A police spokeswoman said a member of the public had come to the station at 1.30pm with a suspicious package they said they had received in the mail.

They believed it to be an explosive.

Staff at the station and residents of Joyce Street were evacuated and were still awaiting news at 5.20pm whether it was safe to return to work or their homes.

The bomb squad is on the scene and investigating whether the package is a bomb.
