A Time For Reflection, But Don't Forget The Present

Easter and Anzac Day this year are being recognised with a 5 day public holiday for all of Australia, starting Friday and finishing in time for everyone to go back to work on Wednesday morning.

Anzac Day and Easter Monday fall on the same day for QLD, NSW, ACT, TAS, NT and WA this year. VIC and SA observe Anzac Day on April 26th.

Traditionally in Australia we spend the Easter long weekend relaxing; spending time with friends and family or enjoying a diversity of music festivals. As a result this tends to involve a lot of driving, often interstate. Because we work so hard, we like to make the most of our off time. Unfortunately, this can contribute to fatigue that is a key factor in road accidents.

2010 saw a total of 2 road fatalities in Queensland for the Easter long weekend. The lowest toll in five years. This figure accounted for 14% of the nations total. Wouldn’t it be nice to see that figure even lower this year? At zero?

Everyone at 101.5fm wishes you all a wonderful long weekend, but most of all we wish you and your family a safe weekend. In a time of reflection we ask that you consider the safety of yourself and those around you. Don't drive under the influence, don't drive fatigued and keep an eye out for your mates. We look forward to spending the next twelve months with you. Stay Safe!
