Volunteers Recognised by Exclusive Glass House Award Ceremony

National Volunteer week will be punctuated in Queensland by the second annual Glass House Volunteer Award ceremony. Member for Glasshouse, Mr Andrew Powell,  has announced the opening of nominations for the 2011 event.

National Volunteer week, running May 9th to 15th, recognises the selfless devotion that hundreds of volunteers contribute to our community, paying gratitude to the often over looked people that we could not do without.

This year, the year of 'Inspiring the Volunteer in You', will see winning nominees based in the Glasshouse electorate receive a prestigious certificate issued by Queensland Parliament and Volunteering Queensland.

There is expected to be a strong turn out at the Glass House Volunteer Award ceremony, with Mr Powell stating "Judging by the amount of community groups we have invited to submit a nomination, I am confident that we will have in excess of 150 people attending this event”. The event is invitation only, with nominations closing on Friday April 29th. Anyone wishing to make a nomination should contact Andrew Powell's office on  07 5435 2013.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place from 10am Friday 13 May at the Glasshouse Mountains Sports Club on Steve Irwin Way, Glasshouse Mountains.
