Electricity Pain On Queenslanders

Residents within the Morayfield electorate, will pay at least $110 more each year in household electricity bills, LNP Candidate for Morayfield, Darren Grimwade said.

“Residents are sick of being fleeced by this wasteful and debt ridden Labor Government. Today’s 6.6% price rise comes on top of a recent report noting Queensland electricity and gas prices have increased by 63% in the last five years.

“This rise in electricity prices is another example of Labor’s failure to stop profits being ripped out of government-owned utilities and their neglect to plan for Queensland’s future power needs,” Mr Grimwade said.

“It’s another broken promise from State Labor and Anna Bligh who promised ‘not one Queenslander’ would be worse off under a deregulated electricity market.

“Most importantly, it does not matter where you live, nobody – not one Queenslander – will be worse off under the government’s proposal.” – then Deputy Premier Anna Bligh, Hansard, 28 September 2005

“The CanDo LNP team will fight to reduce cost of living pressures for Queenslanders by managing our economy and reining in government waste. We understand how much Queenslanders are finding it difficult to make ends meet due to increased fuel, rego, power and water bills,” Mr Grimwade said.
