Moreton Bay Regional Council is calling Expressions of Interest in tendering for the construction of the Regional Sports Park’s AFL Precinct at Burpengary.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said the opening of Expressions of Interest was a significant step toward the start of the physical construction of the football facility.
“Nobody should be in any doubt that council is serious about delivering the AFL Precinct at Burpengary,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“There’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes in terms of the detailed design of the project and securing the right contractor to build it.
“The AFL Precinct will be a major investment in regional sport, so we want to make sure the community is getting value for money.”
Mayor Sutherland said the call for Expressions of Interest was part of a two stage-streamlined tendering process.
Once council has compiled a list of interested and capable contractors they'll then be invited to submit a detailed tender for construction.
“The Regional Sports Park’s AFL Precinct is part of this council’s commitment to sporting facilities in the region with more than $25 million spent on sport infrastructure this year alone,” the Mayor said.
“It’s integral to encouraging the Moreton Bay region to be among the healthiest in Queensland.”
