Wyatt Roy Backs McDonald's

Minister for Defence Materiel yesterday used Parliament as an opportunity to mock Macdonalds.

Wyatt Roy, Federal Member for Longman, said the Minister’s comments were “out of line”, and “inappropriate”.

The Minister for Defence Materiel, Jason Clare, mocked the local business franchise calling it “cheap and nasty”.

Mr Roy said that it was disappointing to hear such remarks made with reference to an organisation that is doing great things both in the local community and across Australia.

“In an electorate with high unemployment locally, Mcdonald's is one of the biggest employers in our local area, and does great things for our community.

“While the Labor party is attacking Mcdonald's, I am proud to have recently supported McHappy Day, helping to raise funds for charities and witness the great generosity of locals.

“The Minister’s comments indicate an elitist attitude from a government that has lost touch with local communities.

“These comments come hot on the heels of Mcdonald’s fundraising efforts by Ronald Mcdonald House Charities, which provides assistance to families with seriously sick children. The comments were made in poor taste,” said Mr Roy.
