Burglary charges, Kallangur


Police have charged a 16-year-old Burpengary male youth with a number of offences including burglary with violence after four homes at Kallangur were allegedly broken into overnight. 

It will be alleged that the youth broke into homes in Goshaw DriveSkylark CourtBalstrup Road and Brolga Avenue, between 1am and 6.30am and stole property. 

It will be further alleged that during one of the break-ins the youth produced a replica firearm and threatened a man before fleeing on foot. No one was injured. 

Following one of the break-ins, residents from the house chased the youth through backyards before losing sight of him. 

Extensive searches by police on foot, including a dog squad unit, in periods of heavy rainfall were conducted in the area overnight with police locating the youth in the yard of a house in Lyrebird Way around 7.50am. 

The male allegedly ran at officers and a Taser was deployed. He was taken into custody without further incident and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act. 

Police investigations are continuing.
