Woodford to benefit from upgraded SewageTreatment Plant

WOODFORD residents of today and tomorrow will benefit from Unitywater’s upgrade of the Woodford Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).

Works on the upgrade will commence soon and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.

The upgrade is the latest addition in a growing list of achievements aimed at future proofing the sewage systems of the Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast regions.

“Investing in this key project means we can construct an improved, environmentally-friendly sewage treatment plant that will deliver a long term sustainable solution for the growing population of Moreton Bay up until 2020,” Unitywater Project Manager David Goodall said.

The Woodford STP upgrade will deliver better outcomes for the community and the environment, including improved odour management and a higher standard of sewage treatment.

Mr Goodall assured residents all care would be taken to ensure measures were in place to protect the community and its environment.

Customers can expect increased activity over the next few weeks as the construction contractor mobilises to site.

Unitywater will continue to keep residents and stakeholders informed of work progress on a regular basis.
