Education Sector a Big Winner in State Budget

The Queensland Labor Government has made education a key priority in this year’s State Budget.

State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan MP has particularly welcomed funding for the expansion of kindergarten services in the Morayfield State Electorate.

“We know that by investing in early childhood education and learning, we are able to provide more opportunities for our young people to reach their full potential,” Mr Ryan said.

“This year’s State Budget provides over $1.4 million for kindergarten services in the Morayfield State Electorate.

“This is a huge investment in the learning of our kids and the future of our community.

The 2011-12 State Budget also confirms funding for the construction of eight new classrooms at the Caboolture Special School.

“These new classrooms will be a great new addition to the Caboolture Special School and are further proof of this State Government’s significant investment in the learning of young people.

“The major construction works are expected to be completed by the beginning of the 2012 school year and are funded by a $3.4 million allocation from this year’s State Budget,” Mr Ryan said.

The 2011-12 State Budget also allocates $1.4 million in funding to build a new Trade Training Centre for Narangba Valley State High School.

“The announcement of a Trade Training Centre for Narangba Valley State High School is great news for our community and great news for the learning of our local young people.

“Trade Training Centres provide additional vocational and training opportunities for our kids and I’m so pleased that our community has not been forgotten,” Mr Ryan said.

Mr Ryan has also welcomed funding for some critical local projects in this year’s State Budget.

“Whilst these projects are relatively small projects, they are nonetheless important projects for our local schools,” Mr Ryan said.

Some of the highlights include:
  • $10,000 for maintenance work at Burpengary State School
  • $5,000 for maintenance work at Narangba Valley State School
  • $68,000 to build an additional lane at the Kurrajong Drive/Rowley Road intersection at Burpengary Meadows State School
  • $28,000 to construct pedestrian crossings and facilities at Burpengary State School

“These are great local projects and I am sure they will be warmly received by our school communities.”

“I am focussed on delivering real results for the people of the Morayfield State Electorate and I am pleased that this Budget continues to deliver on priorities for our community.”
