Kings of Leons Qualm with Qantas

Kings of Leon have finally reached Sydney shores after their tour was put at risk due to flight cancellations over the weekend, following the grounding of hundreds of scheduled Qantas flights.

The band were forced to arrange an alternative route in order to make their first national performance at Sydney's Acer Arena on November 4; what was supposed to be a 12 hour direct flight from Johannesburg, South Africa, turned into a 24 hour journey.

"Joberg-Dubai-Sydney. 24 hours in the air. That’s how much I love Oz," Tweeted drummer Nathan Followill.

Earlier this year the boys were set to take to Australian stages in March, however, dates had to be postponed after Followill tore a right labrum and bicep, and was advised at least a 3 month post surgery recovery period by his doctor.

The seven show tour which is supported by Band of Horses, will take place in most capital cities throughout the nation with the last leg of their trip wrapping up in Nib Stadium, Perth.

Followill stated in an interview with Triple J that he has no qualms with Qantas in regards to flying back to the states.

"Hopefully they will let me have a seat home," he joked.

On Their Way To Making Millions

Four-piece Brisbane band, Millions, has learned only recently that they will be opening this years Splendour in the Grass.

Only a relatively new band, Millions is making their mark on the world.

Already having played with bands such as The Grates and The Belligerents, they will share the stage with Kanye West, Coldplay, Jebediah and Jane’s Addiction – just to name a few.

Campbell, live at a show
Don, Campbell, Steve and James find themselves writing furiously as they prepare a forty-five minute concert for Splendour. This is because they don’t have enough songs! It just proves how new they are. However, that doesn’t matter, as it’s obvious they're liked.

Below is an interview with Campbell, the bassist, with Kristina. He talks about his dog, hair styles and how Millions became so lucky.

Got a Band? Live in Moreton Shire? Dream of Playing at an A-List Music Festival?

Splendour in the Grass - Woodford Queensland
Friday 29, Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July 2011
Splendour in the Grass will be hitting our region from 29 to 31 July and this year's event is poised to be a true local celebration.

While it’s being held in our own backyard at Woodford, we’ve worked hard with Splendour organisers to make sure it provides an unforgettable experience for some very lucky local performers.

Council, in partnership with Splendour in the Grass, is running a competition that will see three up-and-coming bands from the Moreton Bay region play the gigs of their lives at this renowned music festival – sharing the same stage with acts such as Coldplay, Kayne West, Jane's Addiction and The Living End.

To enter submit your details by 5.00pm Friday, 24 June 2011.

Successful bands will be announced on this website on Wednesday 13 July 2011.
