Moreton Bay Regional Council is providing new headquarters with better facilities for both Caboolture and Bribie Island ’s SES units.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said the SES played a vital role in the community in times of need.
“Council is working to ensure our SES volunteers are better resourced and located to boost the region's emergency response,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“We’re spending a total of around $412,000 on the depots as part of our ongoing commitment to both the SES and our local communities.
Deputy Mayor and Division Three Councillor Greg Chippendale said the Caboolture SES unit would relocate from Wararba Crescent to an existing building within council’s Machinery Parade depot in Caboolture, away from residential areas.
“It will give SES volunteers more flexibility during training activities and delivers more space to store vehicles and equipment,” he said.
“Council is transforming an existing building at the Machinery Parade depot into an SES HQ with work expected to be completed shortly.”
On Bribie Island , a new SES depot has been built at the existing SES headquarters next to the council depot on First Avenue .
Division One Councillor Gary Parsons said the new Bribie depot includes a meeting and training room, a communications logistics and operations centre, office space, kitchen, lunch room and amenities.
“Bribie’s SES provides a valuable service both on and off the Island with the new building delivering better facilities to help the SES help the community in times of need.” Cr Parsons said.
