Weekend works to upgrade northern train network

Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines closed
Between Northgate and Gympie North stations
Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11

The Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines will close between Northgate and Gympie North stations from the first train on Saturday (September 10) until the final train on Sunday (September 11).

Works being undertaken this weekend include:
  • Removing and replacing rails at Bald Hills
  • Overhead line equipment works at Narangba
  • Track improvements at Palmwoods
  • Other various maintenance works between Northgate and Gympie North stations
TransLink spokesman Andrew Berkman said buses would replace all inbound and outbound trains for customers between Northgate and Gympie North stations during the closure.
“NightLink trains on the Caboolture line will also be replaced by buses starting at Roma Street station,” Mr Berkman said.

“People will be able to get where they need to go. We’re getting the message out there about where and when alternative services are running.

More than 80 additional buses will operate on Saturday afternoon for the Brisbane Broncos and New Zealand Warriors qualifying final clash at Suncorp Stadium.

Customers travelling to the Bridge to Brisbane fun run on Sunday morning should also be aware of this closure.
The level crossings at Bilsen Road, Geebung (Sunshine train station) and Telegraph Road at Bald Hills will also be closed to vehicles and pedestrians for maintenance. Detours will be in place.
Train services will resume as normal on Monday (September 12).
