MBRC Fraud and Corruption Policy

Moreton Bay Regional Council has adopted a new region-wide fraud and corruption policy.

Mayor Allan Sutherland said the new policy consolidated those that had already been in place under the three foundation councils of Caboolture, Pine Rivers and Redcliffe.

“The policy puts in place a framework and procedures for preventing, detecting and the reporting of fraud and corruption involving council employees,’ the Mayor said.

“Fraud and corruption are offences that strike at the very heart of our democracy and are taken very seriously by council.

‘The new policy doesn’t change those that had already been put in place by the former councils, but what it will do is establish a consistent, region-wide strategy that actively prevents and discourages corrupt and fraudulent activity.

“Like the adoption of region-wide local laws next month, the fraud and corruption policy is another step in Moreton Bay Regional Council’s amalgamation journey.”

Mayor Sutherland said council had also adopted a region-wide policy which aimed to streamline the resolution of competitive neutrality complaints involving council businesses which supply goods and services to the public.
