Mr Ryan said that the LNP Candidate for
Morayfield had been invited to support the community petition that is being
circulated by the Caboolture Southsider’s Action Group and the Caboolture South
Neighbourhood Watch Group.
“Rather than support the community
petition, the LNP Candidate for Morayfield has chosen to put his political
ambitions first,” Mr Ryan said.
“I will always put our community
first – that’s why I am sponsoring this community petition and it’s why I have
taken the lead on this important issue for the Caboolture South community.
“As soon as I heard about the
changes, I immediately contacted Translink and the Minister for Transport.
“And I have been working with the
local Neighbourhood Watch Group and the Caboolture Southsider’s Action Group to
have a petition tabled in State Parliament.
“I will personally table the
petition in State Parliament next week.
“Whilst I am pleased that I have
been able to arrange interim alternatives – like the installation of additional
bus stops on Matthew Flinders Drive (thereby reducing walking distances for
many affected local residents) and a community transport bus solution for affected
eligible local people – my focus is on getting these bus services reinstated.
“Rather than playing politics with
our community, the LNP Candidate for Morayfield should be answering questions
about whether he supports his leader’s record (as Lord Mayor of Brisbane) of
cutting the Brisbane City Council’s contribution to public transport services
from 50% to 40%?
“My record speaks for itself. I have delivered more carparking at
Morayfield and Burpengary Train Stations, more bus services and more train
services for our community.
“I have fought for and delivered more
and improved public transport services for our local community and I will
continue to fight for our area,” Mr Ryan said.
